The Ruestringer sluice has already been built around 1607. After a short while the Ruestersieler Port belonged to the most important trading ports for tea, rock candy, fabrics, porcelain and building materials. During the Continental System around 1806 the Port had its period of glory with 1.345 coming and 1.293 leaving ships. Due to the nascent steam navigation the Ruestersieler Port lost its importance. In the year 1911 Ruestersiel becam a famous holiday spot at the North Sea .
“Is relaxation, not luxury your aim than come to us to Ruestersiel.”
This claim is still up to date. We welcome everybody in our port.
Today we have a capacity of 50 moorings and we are happy about every new sailing-friend. Our port is perfectly situated and sheltered from wind and weather. We offer the best locking-times in the “Jade” which makes us to an ideal starting point for your sailing cruise in the North Sea.
Ruestersiel is a district of Wilhelmshaven. It is very close to the centre of the town but is still situated in a very idyllic atmosphere. Even Ruestersiel has a lot to offer: There is a bakery, several restaurants, and a hairdresser for the ladies. The hotel Schröder’s Schöne Aussicht is located directly at the port.
Last but not least: Our port has been completely redevoloped and newly rebuilt.
